John is a Licensed Independent Social Worker and Registered Play Therapist Supervisor based in our Waterloo office. He has been in the counseling profession for over 34 years and has been a therapist in the Cedar Valley for over 22 years. He has been an Adjunct Professor at the University of Northern Iowa’s Department of Social Work, facilitated several play therapy workshops and has supervised numerous therapist and play therapists.

John provides individual, family and play therapy with clients of all ages. He believes strongly in creating a safe and sacred space for healing and growth. His heightened level of empathy, clinical wisdom, and strong intuition, accompanied with compassionate care, serves him in creating a therapeutic process. His theoretical modalities include strategic, structural and family systems therapies, Adlerian Play Therapy, Sand Tray Play Therapy and Jungian Psychotherapy. Additionally, he provides a holistic mind/body/spirt approach.
