Jerrell Bates (he/him/his) is a Mental Health Counselor at our Waterloo location, working with clients on a range of different mental health concerns. Jerrell is committed to providing compassionate and client-centered support, working closely with licensed counselors to offer individual and group counseling sessions. He has experience working with a diverse and expansive population (age 16+) through concerns such as anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, grief, trauma, stress, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder. Jerrell focuses on building a strong foundation and emphasizing building rapport in the therapeutic relationship. He primarily utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to address client concerns, but also draws from Motivational Interviewing (MI), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Jerrell believes in meeting the client where they’re at and utilizing a collaborative approach to meet client needs.
