Genevieve (she /her/hers) is a clinical mental health counseling intern from the University of Northern Iowa. Having worked as a nurse for over a decade, she brings a compassionate and caring lens to counseling while working with a person-centered and strengths-based foundation to best meet clients where they are at in their lives. She is passionate about the use of expressive arts, mindfulness, and the mind-body connection as a way of exploring and processing individual experiences. To help identify and better understand individual patterns and promote growth and healing, she utilizes skills from acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and narrative therapy. She works with a variety of client concerns including anxiety, depression, grief/loss, trauma, OCD, substance use, and various life transitions.

Genevieve strives to provide a space of safety and acceptance in which clients can explore their experiences, thoughts, and emotions. As a counseling intern she looks forward to working with clients of all ages using a collaborative and relational approach that is unique to each individual’s needs and goals.
