Dillon is a mental health counselor based in our Cedar Rapids Office who works with clients on a variety of issues. He is particularly passionate about working with adolescents and young adults but has additional experience working with children and adults in all stages of life. Dillon utilizes a variety of therapeutic approaches including person-centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and motivational interviewing (MI). Dillon also uses principles and techniques from internal family systems (IFS), narrative therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).

Before becoming a mental health counselor, Dillon worked as a youth pastor for 5 years, worked briefly in community mental health services, and has experience as a Christian counselor. Dillon is particularly interested in helping all his clients discover what motivates and drives them, as these are the forces that can hinder us or help us thrive.

Dillon’s goal as a counselor is to help you reach your goals, by facing your issues head on and with courage. While Dillon is bold, he is equally gentle and strives to empower his clients to achieve hard things. His philosophy is that if we do not take control of our issues, they may take control of us. He finds great importance in walking alongside his clients in compassion and support while giving them a safe space to work toward the change they desire, so they can be the best versions of themselves.
